It’s that time of the week again where I have the esteemed luxury of telling you what hotspots you should be at so you can be a total hotshot.

Detroit Music. A Photographic Retrospective takes place at Whitdel Arts. This event is being curated by Lisa Krug. Chances are you have run into her at a show and if you’ve asked her for her number, you were probably dialing 867-5309 later and didn’t catch on. Google the number if you still don’t get it. Anyways, the retrospective offers work from three photographers whose work you are probably already familiar with. See that Danny Brown picture in the flier? Yeah, that was in Spin like 100 times. Open any Metro Times or Real Detroit and your sure to find photo credits for these snappers. Here’s the Event Page and official promo speak to follow:

“Photographing music is like capturing art in motion. One moment never to be replicated, artfully captured through the eye of the photographer…

Please join Whitdel Arts Gallery for a retrospective exhibition of Detroit music photography with three of the finest examples of photographers the city has to offer.

Try Something Different: Drive-In Radio Theater At The MOCAD

This looks to be quite a new and inventive mixture of music and crazy and they do have quite the lineup planned. Check out all the verbage from the Event Page:

“THEATER
Wednesday, March 28, 7PM-9PM, every 20 minutes
Hosted and Curated by The Hinterlands Ensemble
Drive-In Radio Theater
in the MOCAD parking lot
Admission: $5 per car

Tired of screaming at the radio station and not hearing anything back? Still wondering just what that DJ shouting through the airwaves looks like in the flesh? Pull in to the MOCAD parking lot on March 28 from 7-9PM for an evening of taking back the airwaves – drive-in radio theatre style. Enjoy six incredible acts of fifteen minutes a piece from the comfort of your leather/vinyl/leopard-skin seats for just $5 a car!

Watch and listen as The Hinterlands experimental performance ensemble (http://thehinterlandsensemble.org/) brings to life classic sci-fi radio theatre of the 1930s! Experience breaking, popping & locking, and freestyle in a whole new media with Hardcore Detroit (http://www.hardcoredetroit.biz/)! Bust your speakers with the rhymes of Passalacqua (http://tomandbootsy.com/)! Dance wildly in your front seat to the sounds of Duane the Teenage Weirdo (http://www.facebook.com/pages/DUANE/307423941614)! Let the mystifying shadow puppets of Carrie Morris (http://www.carriemorris.com/) mystify you – and more! You will never look at that dial quite the same again. Be prepared for a headlight-flashing, speaker-cracking, window-roll-downing good time.

Note: Attendees can stay for the whole evening or catch a few acts before heading out. “
