Top 5 w/ Zak Frieling
Meet Zak. Zak is the bass player for Kommie Kilpatrick, at times only using 3 strings. He also heads the awesome tape label Gold Tapes. I was able to get a great Top 5 from him:
Here are 5 of my favorite songs of the past few months.
Jerusalem – When the Wolf Sits.
Really good early proto-metal gem, produced by Ian Gillan of Deep Purple .
Nick Gilder – Here Comes the Night.
This is the second single off this album, after “Hot Child In The City”. This whole album is filled with these awesome weird New Wave/Canadian/Glam/Pop songs, and this is my favorite.
Neil Young – Don’t Cry No Tears.
This was the first Neil Young record I got really into, I probably listened to this song every day this summer.
Roxy Music – Virginia Plain
This is just my favorite Roxy Music song.
The Ridiculous Trio – Down on the Street
The Ridiculous Trio is a band that plays only Stooges covers using trombone, tuba and drums. It works really well.
Kommie Kilpatrick have no shows coming up, other than covering The Damned for the halloween cover show at PJ’s Lager House on Friday 10/19, and at the Garden Bowl on Thursday 10/25.
Here is a video of our recent set at Panic in Hamtramck at the Painted Lady.
Thanks again to Zak.
