Hospital Garden: New 7″, Berkley Front Saturday
Hospital Garden is the truest indie-rock band in existence—returning to the roots of the genre their songs meld punk, hardcore, rock, and pop into an original expression of “fuck you” magic.
Their latest track, “Sightseeing”, has its coming out party when the band releases a split 7” with Destroy This Place. Straight ahead to the extreme, “Sightseeing” kicks in with raucous guitar and Lucas Hollow’s salute to simplicity. The lyrics are direct without being confessional. At the end of the song he atones: “If there is a meaning here tell me/If there is a reason give me three/I need 3”.
I don’t know these reasons (nor do you have to)…the whole thing just thrills. Fresh off a stint of shows for the Hard Rock Cafe’s Rock ‘N Vote 2012 Hospital Garden is not only the best sounding indie-rock outfit; they’re the best performing indie-rock outfit too.
Watch lightning get captured in a bottle at the Berkley Front Saturday June 8, starting at 9 p.m. A free copy of the 7” comes with the $5 admission. Savage Seven and Destroy This Place also perform.
The band’s full length album Haunter is available through Bandcamp.
