So MotorCityRocks.com played the disappearing website late last week. It seems our hosting plan with GoDaddy lead to our site’s database sharing a server with what their customer service rep labeled as a “high resource site” (GoDaddy code word for porn.) Now for those of you who know stuff about internet, GoDaddy offers pretty decent service for the price and this was my first time having a real problem with them. However, when a GoDaddy support guy tells me to try the useless tactic of optimizing my SQL database to gain “improve performance” I became the equivalent of Bruce Banner’s alter ego. You see after doing this total and utterly worthless optimization (there was not much headroom on the database to begin with since I already did it over a month ago), another GoDaddy support guy gave me a call 60 minutes later to tell me he was taking down MotorCityRocks.com for what he termed as “over optimization of my database.” Being that the original problem still stems for what I believe is the neighboring porn site sharing a GoDaddy IP address with me, I’d say we’ve got some real accountability issues with Danica Patrick’s sugar daddy at this point. Anyways, after a few late nights of mad hair pulling and calling the GoDaddy support staff a “bunch of nerds that couldn’t get laid even if they had invented Facebook”, we migrating to a more expensive grid hosting server which will hopefully lead to faster page downloads for both this site and our sister site MotorCityFlicks.com.
So what does all this have to do with Detroit rock, not much? However, last night I heard my favorite 1960′s throwback tune “Summer’s Gonna Be My Girl” by The Go on the new HBO comedy Hung. It was playing during a scene that was filmed on what looked to be Hines Drive near Dearborn, just thought I’d let you know.
