Nathaniel Mayer Final Nathaniel Mayer Album Will Be Released detroit concerts  Local soul icon Nathaniel “Nay Dog” Mayer; who is best know for the 1962 hit “Village of Love”, will have his final album Won’t You Let Me Be Black? posthumously released on August 4, 2009.  The recording will be available on both CD and on limited edition blue vinyl and features members of Detroit rock bands Outrageous Cherry, SSM, and The Dirtbombs, as well as Akron blues rock duo The Black Keys

Mayer, who has worked with several local area bands throughout the past decade died a the age of 64 on November 1, 2008 in Detroit several months after suffering a massive stroke.
