Rag Wrap – May 13, 2009
Eminem will be performing his latest songs live from Detroit on Jimmy Kimmel Live on both May 19th and May 22nd. He will also be taking about 200 laid-off Detroit auto workers with him to the show.
Ameoba Music has Rodriguez‘s in-store performance and interview for your viewing pleasure. There are also mp3s available for download from Rodriguez’s recent session for Daytrotter.com.
MT’s also got a review of the latest Rodriguez reissue, as well as Bump‘s latest album Foward.
Kid Rock‘s work on some stuff, and so is Windsor’s Neverending White Lights.
Deep Cutz looks at The High Strung‘s latest album.
NME is not impressed with the Von Bondies latest.
The Dirty Water Club in London; which was made famous by showcasing Detroit Garage Rock, willl be closing it’s doors. I’m sure this will not effect your life much but it’s still a good read.
A band from Portland writes a halfway decent song about Michigan.

That Bump album review is amazing.
the must read review of 09!
That review is spot on! Those guys in Bump must have stock in Chapstick because they pop up to perform on notable events like Shittyfest and the DMA's (full disclosure: Winner.)when I haven't hreard anyone have an actual opinion on them. I'll see you in hell. Hahaha Bowie.
It was a great review of a review
Too Bad NME cannot write nearly as well as Jason S.....atrocious grammar
Jesus Chainsaw Massacre is awful, absolutely awful, and I should know!
Anonymous,
Have you like just moved to Michigan or something?
Also, poor taste. Very poor taste. But then again I'm hypothesizing that you are somewhat involved in the Detroit music scene circa 2009 so really the joke's on you. I'd suggest for you to dedicate your time writing/producing that next power pop/folksy achievement/electro gem, but it really doesn't matter. I put my personal guarantee that by this time next year you'll be back working at Barnes and Noble. Have a good one.
my new side side project is called bryan metro's dead granmother

The typists at "DR2" won't be winning any writing contests anytime soon either. Where ARE all the reviews anyway?
Ok, ok, but let's get back to how awesome that Bump review is.
Brett Callwood is the anti-Jeff Milo.
Yup, Brett sucks too.
everyone is pissing their panties
eminem is a joke
bump is even more of a joke
so much drivel in this city
pathetic
being unbiased is ok
shitty bands getting praise is the black death of detroit
the change machine is churning
toss them in the shredder

Dear Bryan's dead grandma,
I really wish you would start writing a blog or perhaps for one of the local weekly newspapers. I mean, your comments are so fucking mind blowing, I really think you should bring your NEW and REFRESHING views on the scene to the public. I guess that's kind of hard when you're dead, but still, please make the effort.
Love,
Your dead sex life
Hey, I just want to let everyone know that I sent an apology off to Eminem about not posting a link to his Metro Time's interview this week. His response was timely, heartfelt and he wishes no ill will towards MotorCityRocks.com.
what a fuckin' JOKE!
Dear Wow,
I haven't felt this way, down there, in years! Thanks sonny, it's alive!
Great Giggidy, giggidy, gig-gi-dy!
You know the only way to truly rectify this situation would be to retroactively post the link in the original post.
DO IT NOW BEFORE I PEEL YOUR FACE OFF
Here's your link, you behave Bryan!

You did not post the link to Real Detroit's Best of issue. You know the big issue with all the ad's from local businesses thanking 'Detroit' for making them the 'best of' for 2009. You know, the issue where the nomination/voting process is very very vague. So vague that it's never really explained and makes me think 16 people in a room huddled together and chose everything. You know, kinda like the Metro Times Best of Detroit thingiee. Have a good one.
We won for best local blog about Eminem!
