Detroit rock queen Wendy Case talks to heavy hitters Chapstik who have their CD release this Saturday night at Small’s.  Good Friends Love Meets Lust are offering up a industrial ready “Baby Laxative Mix” of Chapstik’s “Math Pussy” and we’ve got it right here.

Learn a few things about Lee Marvin Computer Arm, I know I did.

For the second year in a row, the International Pop Overthrow will be at Paycheck’s in Hamtramck this weekend (starting tonight.)

Flint’s Chiodos will be playing the Warped Tour this summer.  Catch Craig Owens (lead singer of Chiodos) with The Silent Years at the Pike Room on Saturday night.

Here is a solid review of the Decks‘ latest Breath and Bone.

Finally, it was brought to my attention last week that out spoken Ben Blackwell of Cass Records has followed the family caravan and moved down to Nashville to become an employee for Third Man Records (I hear their Winters a much milder.)  Hell, since his web site has not been updated in awhile and their has been no official announcement, for all we know Cass Records may be no more. Anyway, we wish Ben the best of luck and hope to see him back in town often (no more April snow to shovel.)

Anyone know if Third Man is still hiring?

From what the locals told me when I was down there; Third Man was not open yet, it’s located in the Hobo District/Cracktown. Pretty rough looking “few” streets but nothing compared to the whole of Detroit. I thought it was kind of funny… guess JW still needs the street cred of coming from the tough part of town, even in Nashville.

I read somewhere that he was moving back here and doing something here….?

Maybe! I will admit, everything I said about Cass Records is all speculation on my part and I did not actually talk to Ben Blackwell.

Here’s some more speculations… GM might go bankrupt, MSU might win the NCAA in 2010. Is it wrong to speculate?

    location location location.

Or he wanted to be close to the record pressing plant he’ll be using. Probably got the building for a steal too-he knows a good deal when he sees one, and you don’t need to sustain any cred except on your way to the bank for that.

All valid points, but it’s Nashville… it takes like ten minutes to drive from one side of town to the other. (It’s not like driving to Ann Arbor.)

He did probably get the place cheap, and I’m all about helping out bad neighborhoods.
