Rag Wrap – March 25, 2009

Pitchfork reviews The Friendly Foes’ debut.

The Satin Peaches finally release their long awaited EP Morning Maid, and Deep Cutz has everything you need to know about why it took so long.

The Darts are calling it quits. Their last show will be this coming Saturday night at Mac’s in Lansing.

Light In The Attic is reissuing Rodriguez’s 1971 record Coming From Reality on May 4th.

Lollapalooza is pretty much a bust this year with a > $180 price tag (last year was the best year in terms of tickets sales ever since it went to a annual, one weekend festival).  We here at MCR predict with the economy in the tank and the crappy headliners that it will be the worst year since 2004 when they had to cancel the whole damn thing.

Speaking of the economy, The Detroit News talks with country star John Rich about his song “Shuttin’ Detroit Down”. Voice of a generation? He also cowrote “Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)”.

Also, Michigan native Eric Ogden’s local Detroit rock photography (of Iggy Pop, Nathaniel Mayer, Sufjan Stevens, Andrew W.K., Bootsy Collins, Deastro, Andre Williams, Dirtbombs and Detroit Cobras) will be featured in the upcoming coffee table book called Characters Welcome, which will also be some form of a “show” on the USA Network.
