Montrealers The Sam Roberts Band recently filmed their video for “Detroit ’67″ in you-know-where (thanks for the tax break, Gov!). If you’ve listened to 93.9 The River lately you will have undoubtedly heard this song, as they have been playing the shit out of it. Isn’t it weird how with 89X playing their 2001 hit “Brother Down” in regular rotation, the band has two hits on two different stations, but neither station will play both songs? It’s like two different bands. Here’s a song for the kids, here’s one for mom and dad. Anyway, see how many local landmarks you can spot– this could be a drinking game for watching all the major motion pictures filmed here coming out in the months ahead. Sam Roberts Band themselves are drinking in the video, interspersed with footage of people dancing, and shots of the riots, looting, and fire.
Also, Sam’s got some tour dates with The Stills ahead of him, but none closer than Ontario.

It took a guy from Canada to write the best song ever about Detroit.

What bar are they drinking in?

Good question.

Curious as to why they would write that song…It’s good, great video too.
