Concert Review: Real Detroit 9th Birthday Bash @ Magic Stick

February 4, 2008 by Dr. Detroit in Detroit Concerts with 0 Comments

Saturday I took in the sounds of the Real Detroit 9th Birthday Bash and here’s my 2¢:

- This was my first time seeing Deastro, and I have to say that I agree with all the other Detroit Blog’s assessment of his remarkable talent.

- The Silent Years drew the biggest crowed of the night, and I can only speculate that they’ll have a breakout performance at the SXSW festival next month.

- The Go offered up plenty of great new material which makes me speculate that we’ll see a new album by this time next year. I also dug hearing “Keep On Trash” (mp3).

- I spotted legendary Detroit Wheels drummer Johnny “Bee” Badanjek taking in The Muggs’ set. The Muggs sounded bigger and louder then I ever recall, which makes me hungry for the new album they’re currently working on (hurry up already). They also need to put out a live album.
