Now that Cityfest is over it’s time to try and get back to real life. Every night for the past 5 days I’ve eaten lunch/dinner on a curb trying to balance food on my lap and eat. It will be nice to do something crazy like sit at a table and use silverware. The last 5 days I’ve been outside more than I have been since last years Cityfest and my body is not happy about it. I’m sure many of you are feeling the same especially after seeing all the usual pasty white people actually have some color to them.
Check out the seldom used MCR Flickr account for some snaps of the weekend.
I agree with most everything Jasper had to say about Cityfest, so here are a few additional thoughts.
Free beer will make watching any band almost tolerable.
I’ve seen Cheap Trick twice now and have never got a guitar pick yet. Yesterday I made sure to be upfront and had no luck. Damn you Rick Nielsen. I don’t care what anyone says, Cheap Trick can still rock.
Freer was great at Northern Lights on Saturday night and Liz Copeland is a super fun dj. I’ve never had the chance to hear her dj somewhere else other than on the radio.
What’s the deal with the owls and the Hard Lessons?
Who knew Weird Al had so many fans? I’ll admit, he was pretty entertaining, at least for about half his set.
We all love The Go and the new record is great, but we all also really really love the old songs too. Please play them for us every now and then.
I think the Silent Years are one of the most fun, exciting bands to see these days and they played a great set on a very hot Sunday afternoon.
I swear the same volunteers work at the same spots at CityFest. I’m 99% positive the workers in the VIP tent have been the same ones for the past 3 years. Is it just me or does nothing at Cityfest really ever change? I don’t mean that in a bad way either. You at least know what to expect. The booths are mostly in the same places, the local bands are usually the same, I always drink too much. Cityfest is a good time to check up on bands that you sort of like but don’t really have the time to go see. It’s good to go for that yearly check up just to make sure nothing much has changed and everything is in working order.
Deep Fried Mars Bars are still amazing.
