Notes from around the mulberry bush:

Does anyone have a high-quality rip of The Hold Steady’s cover of Seger’s “Against the Wind”? If so, head over to Webvomit and let Jasper know – if you share with him, I’m sure he’ll give you a reacharound for your troubles, at the least.

Local bluesman Howard Glazer has a few shows happening this weekend … The steady axeman does a show with Bob Godwin at the Tipperary Pub (313-271-5876) Friday at 9:00 p.m., and he’ll be playing solo acoustic Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. during the Cass Cafe’s Leonard Peltier Benefit show. Howard’s website has more info.

The Prime Ministers just tacked on a Friday show at the New Way Bar w/ Cobalt Party Revolution and Mechanical Ant.

313.jac! hosts Battling Siki, Dead Letters and the Cetan Clawson Revolution on Friday night, and The Singles, Extra Blue Kind and The Lessmores on Saturday night.

Lately, Senor Garo has been listening to an absurd amount of the new Two Cow Garage album, Three. Sounds a lot like a mash-up of Shipwreck Union and the Drive-By Truckers, which makes the band pretty fantastic in my book.

Speaking of Shipwreck Union … some folks know that frontman Nick Lucassian was in the band Big Block in the mid-to-late 90′s with Detroit all-over-the-placer Kenny Tudrick. The band’s album Guardrail was an absurdly good mess of crunchy barroom, borderline-southern rock influenced stuff. I’m lucky enough to know that a second album was recorded and mixed, but never released due to a myriad of problems. Can anyone out there in MCR reader land help a guy somehow find a copy of this album?
