The Sirens, The Silent Years News
The Sirens will be having a record release party at Northern Lights Lounge this

Congrats to the The Silent Years who have made it to the second round of Spin’s Underground Band of the Year contest. Head over to Spin’s site if you’d like to vote for the band and help them move on to the next round. Catch the band this Friday at the Lager House with Nice Device and Modena Vox.
It looks like the White Stripes are back and will be playing at this year’s Bonnaroo Festival. Other bands on the bill this year include The Police, Wilco, Tool, Flaming Lips and Hold Steady just to name a few.
In sort of White Stripes related news, over at The Modern Age there was a post the other day about the White Stripes and on most posts on the site there are usually just a few comments, but this one sparked a bunch of responses. The comments started off fine but then of course they turned to rumors, gossip and general hatred some of which have since been deleted. Many people want us to put the comments back on MCR but this is the reason we took them down. I’m just curious as to why anytime a Detroit band is mentioned on a website the comment’s just fill up and it usually turns into a high school like gossip war?
The Detroit Derby Girls will be having a bout this Saturday night at the Masonic Temple Drill Hall. The Detroit Pistoff’s will be taking on the Pistol Whippers. Doors open at 7, and tickets are $15. Head over to the DDG website for more details.
