Weekend Lowdown – April 14, 2005
Man, what a crazy few days it’s gonna be in the D …
Check out the details of Betty Marie’s 21st Birthday Dance Party (thrown by Richard Pan!c and Nathaniel F.H. Burgundy IV of Pas/Cal), which takes place at Oslo tonight – it’s FREE, kids, and EVERYONE’S invited! Stop by and wish one of the area’s finest vocalists a Happy Birthday … Of course, if you’re not a dancer, there’s always The Sights CD release party at the Magic Stick tonight, as well … On top of that, Small’s plays host to a swank little Chicago rock band called The Reputation tonight …
Friday’s a show-hopping night, as well … The Space Heaters light up the Lager House, while the One Scene to Another CD release party fills up the Magic Stick … The Questions are sure to entertain at Ypsilanti’s Elbow Room, as well …
Saturday’s just as rough, with the crown jewel of the evening being the One Year Anniversary party for Les Infants Terribles (featuring Ersatz Audio special guest Goudron) … The Kingsnakes rock Small’s, 25 Suaves and The Lanternjack pummel The Elbow Room, The Silent Years fill The Belmont with sound, and asses will most certainly be shaking at The Lager House for both early and late shows from Death From Above 1979 and Lee Marvin Computer Arm … and awwwww, crap, I forgot one last night so I’m adding it right now: local bluesman Howard Glazer (with his band, the El 34s) celebrates the release of his solo album, Brown Paper Bag, with a gig at The Dive (4822 Greenfield in Dearborn).
Holy cow … That’s a lotta stuff.
