“It’s all happening here, right here in the D…”
The Freep continues their outstanding preview of MC2 with a brand new flash website that tells you just about everything you need to know about the conference. Also included on the site is the ability to either listen or download all 15 tracks from their exclusive “Best of the Motor City Music Conference” CD.
The Metro Times also has some MC2 coverage today which includes a bunch of band profiles.
Well apparently Detroit has a theme song now and it’s called “What It’s Like in the ‘D’”. The song was paid for and commissioned by the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau and is meant to promote the city. I don’t really know what to say about this so I’ll stop while I’m ahead. They should have used the classic Channel 7 song “Stand up and tell’em your from Detroit” Anyways you can listen to the song here. However this song isn’t nearly good as the People Mover song.
Starting next Thursday Alice Cooper’s radio show is going to be picked up by 94.7 WCSX. His show will be on from 10pm-1am Monday through Friday and will feature classic rock, some newer bands and rare album cuts from bands such as The Yardbirds, Frank Zappa and Pink Floyd.
In sad news local rapper Blade Icewood was shot and killed last night on Detroit’s west side.
