Rag Wrap – February 3, 2005

Written by Senor Garo. Posted in Detroit Concerts

Sorry for the delays this week, kids. Senor Ryan moved MCR headquarters yet again this week (to what appears to be a legitimately permanent location, thank Allah), but things seem to be far more settled for the time being. In other MCR news, Matt is a big ball of stress, Jacquie seems to be MIA and Gary’s still a lazy bastard.

Here’s a handful of bread crumbs for the MCR pigeons … This weekend, there’ll be shows, shows and MORE SHOWS. Friday night, the Magic Stick hosts Whirlwind Rock, Part Two, which serves as a fundraiser for tsunami relief organizations (100% of the door money for the show is going to UNICEF) … Bands on the bill: the Riots, the Hentchmen, Slumber Party, the Beggars, the Nice Device, the Vamps, the Genders, Bang! Bang!, Light, New Grenada, the Blue Sunrays, Johnny Headband, the Trembling and Fifth Period Fever.

Saturday night, the Stick also plays host to a CD release party for Outrageous Cherry’s Our Love Will Change the World – The Avatars and The Pizazz open. The Riots and Lee Marvin Computer Arm headline a gig out at The Neutral Zone in Ann Arbor on Saturday, as well. Small’s in Hamtramck hosts a tsunami relief benefit of its own Saturday night, featuring performances from the Dollfaces, the Decks, Capitol Cities, the Demolition Dollrods, the Detroit City Council, Man INC. and Marty Morris and the Quarter 24s.

Speaking of Man INC., the February issue of Xtreme Detroit is set to feature Detroit’s favorite anti-establishment bassist. The February ‘zine should hit the street soon.

Yes, yes, there are a zillion other things going on this weekend, I know, and I’d expect to be seeing a few more posts from me today with more information about them. Drop me a line at gary@motorcityrocks.com if you’ve got info about any other shows going on in the area this weekend.
