Greg Shaw RIP
MCR remembers Greg Shaw, who passed away yesterday after sufferring from diabetes. A pioneer of rock n’ roll as we know it today, Shaw founded San Francisco the rag Who Put The Bomp and filled the pages with the musings of such noteworthy writers as Lester Bangs, Dave Marsh and R. Meltzer. In 1974, Bomp morphed into a record label with Flamin’ Grooves as its first release. Bomp would go on to bring tons of great rock n’ roll to the public including Iggy Pop’s first solo record Kill City.
